We offer comprehensive care for horses in all walks of life, from newborn foal to competing athlete to retired senior. This care includes routine vaccinations, Coggin's testing, wellness exams, nutrition counseling, medical workups (ophthamology, respiratory disease, infectious disease) and more.

SPORTS MEDICINE

Comprehensive lameness evaluations are performed using diagnostic tools such as digital radiography, digital ultrasound, nerve blocks and the veterinarian's skilled experience with equine anatomy and gait. We offer extra-corporeal shock wave therapy, platelet-rich plasma and more for the treatment of a variety of musculoskeletal injuries.

Prepurchase examinations are a valuable tool for clients considering the purchase of a new horse.  The prepurchase examination consists of a complete physical examination, evaluation of gait and soundness and of his potential suitability.  Radiographs, ultrasound, drug screening and other types of testing are all tools that are utilized to aid in the evaluation of the potential purchase.

DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY and ULTRASOUND

 Digital radiography and ultrasound allows us to obtain high quality images of boney and soft tissue structures including joints, bursae, articular facets and more. They can be viewed and manipulated on a computer screen and allows us to effectively diagnose a wide variety of injuries and conditions. We can create a CD record of images for referral or consult and we can email the results anywhere.

EQUINE ACUPUNCTURE

Dr. Arbittier is certified in equine acupuncture. This ancient technique can be utilized to treat a multitude of diseases, performance or lameness issues or just for the maintenance of your horse's overall health and well-being.  Dr. Arbittier can also guide you in the utilization of Chinese herbs.

 REPRODUCTIVE CARE and FOALING

Our doctors are experienced with preparing mares for breeding, artificial insemination with fresh or frozen semen, maintaining and monitoring healthy pregnancies, foaling and post foaling care of the mare and her new baby. EQUINE SENIOR WELLNESS

Caring for the senior horse is a unique aspect of our job. We offer enhanced examinations and testing tailored to the older equine and his special age related needs. This includes specialized nutritional counseling, endocrine testing and therapies, geriatric bloodwork and much more.

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Shockwave therapy is utilized for the management of chronic pain and lameness caused by a variety of musculoskeletal disorders.  Once the lesion has been identified high energy sound waves called shockwaves can be delivered to that location.

The reported effects of shockwave therapy include enhancing nutrient delivery by increasing the blood supply to the lesion, stimulating specific cell types known to rebuild soft tissue and bone, promoting a local immune response, directing a more linear pattern of fiber healing in tendons and ligaments.
