I am one of the managers of a large horse farm in the area and we have used Blauner, Vecchione, Buchholz & Associates for the last 30+ years, specifically Dr. Jo. She is an awesome, compassionate and very knowledgeable veterinarian. When you schedule a visit with her she’s on time, very thorough and takes time to explain any procedures or problems. She has a big personality and sense of humor to match. We actually look forward to barn days with our vet!
Also the practice offers a 24 hour emergency service which has been invaluable more than once. All the veterinarians from this practice are very well qualified and competent. I would and have recommended this practice to anyone that moves into the area or boards at the farm. If we were rating by stars I’d give them a 10!
When I was a young girl my favorite book was, All Creatures Great and Small, written by Dr. James Herriot, a series based on the real life experiences of a British Veterinarian, and is full of love and compassion, humor and heartbreak. I thought that if I could ever find a vet like this one day, I’d never search for another.
Years of owning horses, I’ve had to use various vets but when I stumbled upon Dr. Joanne Vecchione, I knew immediately that I had found my “Dr. Herriot” and would never need to look elsewhere. She has been a Godsend to me and to my horses, more times than I can count. Her compassion and professionalism are immeasurable. Her love for her horse patients, her respect for her clients and her dedication to her profession all add up to one very special lady that I am proud to call my veterinarian.
I compete in the rather extreme sport of endurance racing. My horse and I do 100 mile races in less than 24 hours. Together, my gelding and I have completed over 20 one day hundreds and have over 4,000 endurance miles, with a 98% completion rate, something that is almost unheard of in this sport, and I owe so much of my success to Dr. Jo and her help in managing my horse.
I cannot thank her enough for all of her help over the years in keeping my horse healthy, sound and fit to do this incredible sport that I love so much, on a horse that I love even more! I couldn’t have done it without Dr. Jo!!
I have been with your practice for over 10 years and there isn’t one time that I have been let down. To the contrary, the companionship and dedication to my horses wellness is as if they are the only patients at the practice.
Without Joanne Vecchione I would not have been able to manage caring for my horse who had a lacerated esophagus. This required months of tube feeding and post tube removal care. The support Rocky and I received was amazing and Dr. Vecchione kept me sane through it all……thanks for talking me off the edge more than a few times.
I appreciate the approach that is always taken when treating an injury or illness…..you always do what is best for the horse but in the most cost effective way for the owner.
My name is Roberta Robinson, aka Bird. I have been the barn manager at Gwyn Meadows Farm forever, and we have always used Blauner, Vecchione, Buchholz & Associates. I have been privileged to work with each veterinarian who has been employed by the practice.
We are a boarding, training and lesson facility with approximately 65 horses and I have had the normal amount of colics, mishaps and conditions that come with a large boarding facility, not to mention an aging lesson horse population we need to keep comfortable.
I have spent many a late night and early morning with most of the vets over the years and I’m comforted by their patience, knowledge and compassion…especially when a difficult decision must be made. We are so fortunate to have this practice right around the corner and I don’t know what I’d do without them in an emergency. They also help me keep track of the routine vaccinations, workings and travel documents.
The office staff is also very patient with my constant phone calls, requesting various supplements and medications that we require. I cannot recommend their practice highly enough!
My family have been clients of Blauner, Vecchione, Buchholz & Associates for over 12 years. They were our first and only horse vet practice, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve grown up with this practice and they have taught me so much. I remember sitting in a circle, learning about emergency care during pony club meetings, which were always taught by someone in the practice. The vets at the practice are more than just vets – they have become family.
Recently I bred my retired event mare and Jen has been with me every step of the way – From the initial ultrasounds right up through the delivery! She was always around to take my frantic overprotective calls, answer my never ending questions and calming me when I was overreacting. Our horses are part of the family. We compete on them year round and Blauner, Vecchione, Buchholz & Associates has always been a phone call away for our every need.
Together, we have conquered EPM, West Nile, colic, lameness, and every other horse issue you could name. They are always available to talk, to guide, and to inform. I could go on and on about my experiences with this practice and can honestly say we’ve never had a single bad experience. They are caring, honest, brilliant doctors and I appreciate everything they’ve done for me, my family and my horses.
It’s been many years of giggling and laughing while spinning in circles as Dr. Jen (with my help) gives the donkeys their shots. She has also been so professional, compassionate and supportive during the loss of horse. I look forward to many more years with my animals and Blauner, Vecchione, Buchholz and Associates. Love you Dr. Jen and everyone that I have dealt with at the office.
